Katie Kring, Founding Director

Katie Kring is a composer, baker, singer, and advocate for our unsheltered neighbors. Katie’s musical theatre and choral works and commissions are performed internationally, and she has served as SCC’s Composer-in-Residence for several years. Her piece At the Hour of Closing was the winner of the 2019 MCDA Opus Award. Katie is the owner of B+B Boulangerie & Bakery and KatieMade Baking & Cooking School. She received her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU and her BFA in music at the University of Michigan, and has sung alto in Springfield Chamber Chorus since 2012.

Joe Hamm, Associate Director

Joe Hamm has been a member of the Springfield Chamber Chorus since the Fall of 2018. He is the proud father of Jessica and Gillian and grandfather of Paisley, the coolest nine-year-old on the planet. He holds a BA in Music from St. John’s University, Minnesota, and a Masters in Choral Conducting from UMKC. His many years of teaching choral music and voice span elementary to community college as well as a private voice/piano studio. He is thrilled to be a member of this fine choral ensemble. 

Kenny Kabak, Associate Director

A native of St. Louis, MO, Kenny Kabak is currently pursuing his Masters in Music – Choral Conducting from Missouri State University where he also received his Bachelors in Music Education. Kenny is the Former Conductor of the Drakensberg Boys Choir in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He currently serves as the Children’s Choir Director at Christ Episcopal Church. Kenny is passionate about outreach, particularly in bridging different communities through the arts.

Brant Jester, Collaborative Pianist

Brant Jester has been singing with the Springfield Chamber Chorus since 2017. He currently studies jazz piano performance at Missouri State University and is the pianist for the Missouri Jazz Orchestra and his jazz trio, the Haüs Jazz Quartet. Brant remains busy as an accompanist across the greater Springfield area and teaches piano privately, and at Hoover Music Company. Brant is a composer and arranger and enjoys writing and playing jazz, classical & choral music.
